When we decided to create a music video in the house genre we had to decide on an artist and song choice for what we would perform to and create in our video. At first we started thinking of our favourite DJ's because if it wasn't someone we like there would be no point in producing their song into a music video. So we started listening to songs from artists such as Calvin Harris, Tiesto, Hardwell and Avicii. After listening to many songs by each artist we felt that Avicii was the most suited to the type of music video we want to produce. this is because Avicii's songs have a good mix of beat and melody to lyrics with meaning. We wanted to produce a narrative video as I feel that is more technical and shows more skill to produce a story of music through a video, so choosing Avicii was down to this. Then we had to look at his songs but had to be careful because his latest album 'true' was extremely popular and created music videos from a number of singles in that album. hit songs such as 'Hey Brother' and 'Wake Me Up' where formed into music videos so we clearly couldn't pick them songs. So we started to look at other songs that we enjoyed in that album. One of the main songs that we enjoyed from the start was the hit 'Dear Boy'. So we started to listen to the song with the lyrics in front of us to see if we could have an idea of what we could do with the song. We thought it fitted in very well as the song fitted in to what we had initially thought. So we have decided to produce the music video for the song.
